Things to Get Rid of Before Moving Day

Movng to a new home can get stressful when there are too many things to pack and unpack. It is very common to store everything that we purchase even though we do not use them much. So the time before you move to a new home is the best to sort out and discard the things that you may have stopped using.

Fewer items mean less time taken for packing. Discarding unwanted things will help in making the unpacking process in your new home a little easier. It will help in saving the cost of transportation and also help in getting more space in the new home and so on…

Here is a list of few things which you can get rid of before moving;

Check Your Closet

many of you will have old and worn out dresses that are kept in the closet just because of sentiments. Such dresses which you feel you would not be wearing again need not be carried, as it will use up unnecessary space in the new house. Similarly, there might be shoes and other footwear which are kept unused. All such dresses and footwear can be either discarded or donated to the needy.

Clear your bathroom cabinet

Check your bathroom cabinets for expired medicines, vitamin tablets, or any medicine that you have not been using or cannot use without a prescription. Clear out these medicines which will keep the space organized and also give you some extra space in the new home. Similarly, discard any unused bath products and toiletries, empty shampoo bottles, very old lotions, unused perfumes, makeup products, crusty old nail polish, etc.

Kitchen extras

Discard any utensils that are not in use for a long time, broken or probably not working. Perishable items can be discarded or given to the needy because it won’t last when the travel distance is long. Discard the expired products also which can’t be used.

Check all the mugs and other such fragile items. If you feel they are not needed or damaged, discard them. Try not to carry many plastic items as it has its disadvantages. This is the right time to move on to better and more environmentally friendly materials.
